As everyone Jibin also arrived in UK dreaming to build a better life for his family with young children. However, 31 years old Jibin Jacob had to meet with a different experience altogether by seeking financial assistance from the UK Malayali community for the treatment of his severe illness. He was diagnosed with acute liver failure at his very young age. Jibinwasnt lucky enough to find a good job even though he was in the UK i last few years. Jibin is from Pathanamthitta, Kerala. He has a four year old child and a new born baby and his wife is currently on maternity leave. Unfortunaely most of us are forced to have a ‘hand to mouth’ way of living due to circumstances. When our luck takes a turn for the worse, we will be left with no choice but to seek the kindness of good fellow human beings. British Malayali Charity Foundation (BMCF) has been able to help many  people through the generosity of its donors and they are thankful to all the supporters for the support they have been pouring over the years  especially towards the last few appeals.. Jibin has a rare blood group (A-) and it is concluded that a liver transplant is not possible in the UK. Jibin had to travel to India and seek further immediate medical assistance.

When a total amount of £ 16,340.00 raised through kindlinkplatform,an amount of £ 3,194.00 gained through gift aid £ 1,280.00 received directly into the bank a/c. Kindlink deduction works out to be £ 814,00 and the rest of £ 20,000.00 earmarked to Jibin, which was decided to hand over in two instalment of £ 10,000.00 each. The trustees had decided to give £ 19,600.00 initially and announced accordingly but another £ 400.00 received after closing the appeal which added into the hand over fund to make it to £ 20,000.00

Late Sanju Sukumaran’s wife had sent an application to the BMCF seeking for the financial support in the event of untimely and unexpected death of her husband leaving her and their three young children. Sanju was just 39 years old with normal health conditions but his life was taken away suddenly by the heart attack.

The general public including various local community contributed overwhelmingly to the appeal issued by the foundation and a whopping amount of over £ 30 Ks donated.

Since BMCF is a registered charity with charity commission, England & Wales, 25% gift aid also given to the donations by the HMRC. When an amount of £ 30,908.00 raised through kindlink, giftaid  expected from HMRC is £  4409.75.  £ 1,996.00 received directly into the Bank a/c and kindlink fee £ 1,236.50 deducted by the platform before sending the proceeds to charity’s bank a/c.  In the meantime trustees decided to make the appeal amount a round figure  of £  36,100.00 by adding £ 22.75 from general fund.

This is the 4th largest fund collected and distributed by British Malayali Charity Foundation, which is formed years ago by the  great visionary ShajanSkariah ( Managing editor, Marunadan Malayali)with a view to give comfort and care to the Malayali fraternity in UK whenever they are in utter dismay and need for support. BMCF is a public community charity of keralaites run by trustees across UK and our each and every policies and programs are drafted and implemented only after necessary consultation with the wider community and updated through our online news portal.   The decisions are made after elaborate discussions weighting the prones and cones of the cases/appeals gained through  the public debate and opinion.

It is needles but to mention that the  UK Malayali community has shown a great trust and  confidence in BMCF by generously supporting to its appeals issued from time to time.

It has been BMCF ‘s  long policy to distribute the raised fund equally to the surviving family members in the event of overwhelming support with a substantial amountin the event of any unforeseen situation wherein other dependants are not being looked after well in the future. The genorisity and kindness of the general public was overwhelming in this appeal due to  the overall situation of the affected family including the age and number of very young children as dependants, which is a major factor behind flooding unexpected volume of over £ 30 Ks

In view of our above adapted policy,  the BMCF trust will be  distributing the overall Sanju Appeal fund of £ 36,100.00 to SeethuSanju in the tune of : £ 21,100.00 and the rest £15,000.00 to the 3xchildren.

Also, this years’ local local charity support is given to Northern Irelan’s charity. St.Vincent de Paul and ClonardMonastry in Belfast  received together and amount of  £ 750.00, which issued in two different cheques of £ 500.00 and £ 250.00 The cheques were handed over to the charities by the Secretary Biji Jose at Belfast. These organisations are always in the forefront to support people without houses including migrants who struggle to survive in their day today lives. The fund was taken from the general fund.

It was with heavy heart that Mrs. Seethu Sebastian from Essex, England  had to send an application to BMCF seeking for financial assistance as she was in a state of profound shock and despair. Untimely and very unfortunate sudden demise of her loving husband Sanju left her with no choice but to seek the help of others from the community. Sanju (39) was an active young father of three lovely children aged 7 years, 3 years and the youngest one is only 6 months. He collapsed and died of a heart attack while he was playing much loved cricket. Sanju is from Palakkad, Kerala and Seethu is from Pala. They were having and happy and joyful family life when suddenly this tragedy happened. Being in the UK for only 4 years they were surviving on nursing and caring jobs.. Not being from a finacially sound family background, Seethu  requested for  financial help for the repatriation of Sanjusremains and related expenses. Biritish Malayali ChairtyFoundation  expressed their gratitude to its supporters for the wonderful support they provide every time when some one is in need. So far the ‘Sanju Appeal’ generated over £33 Ks and expected to receive more friends even though the appeal is officially closed

It is also a policy of BMCF to show the solidarity and the support to the local community in UK, wherein the Malayali community integrated  and settled well. As  a token of BMCFs appreciation and understanding to the local community in UK, this year’s local charity support is given to St. Vincent De Paul Charities in Belfast with an amount of £ 750.00

Divya Sijo arrived in UK last year same like everyone dreaming a better life for her family and bagun her career as a staff nurse at Bath hospital. Husband is unable to go for work since he has to look after his hospitalised wife along with two small children. .Life can take unexpected turns in our lives. While most of us are in the festive mood, a lot of them among us are not. Constant worry about their health and the financial implications due to their ill health is ruining their lives. When Divya came to UK exactly an year ago, her dreams were to build a stable life here and support her parents and in laws back home. Everything turned upside down with diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Only in work for les than an year, she is only qualified for full sick pay for couple of months. Divya and her family do not know how to maneuver around the difficult corner in their life at the moment. Being ill with two very small kids means her husband can not work to earn any living for the family. We fellow human beings can help them at their difficulty. Divya is very hopeful that she can get back to life after good treatments here. What more good we can do than helping a person who is in desperate need of our help. British Malayali Charity Foundation is thankful to its contributors the generosity they have shown towards our recent appeal.
