British Malayali Charity Foundation’s AGM elects new trustees and office bearers. Founding trustee SabuChundakattil returns as Chair, Belfast based charity angel Biji Jose continue as Secretary and Leicester engineer Boney Chandy regained treasurer post
The AGM convened on Saturday 16th December 2023 through online conducted the annual business of British Malayali Charity Foundation. While the secretary initiated the meeting with welcome speech, the chair George Mathew presided over the same and delivered presidential address. Secretary Biji Jose red the annual working report from 17th December 2022 including the details of various appeals issued and funds distributed.
A total fund of £ 90,225.00 distributed during this period to beneficiaries of appeals. A total amount of £95,389.50 was collected in appeals including gift aid. An amount of £ 8,336.66 available in the general fund. The report was unanimously passed by the AGM. Treasurer Boney briefed about the general accounting procedures and the AGM approved for the premium service for the kindlink by paying the charges to facilitate HMRC gift aid.
The meeting resumed with electing new trustees and all the current trustees were continued in the new trust including adding two more faces such as Sabu Sebastian &ShinuMathews from Manchester.. As the Chairman George Mathew expressed his winngness to step down, Sabu Sebastian Chundakattil elected as new Chairman. It was also decided to request Secretary & Treasurer to continue and they acceded to the request.
Sabu Sebastian from Manchester has been a founding trustee when the BMCF trust formed in 2012 and have held many previous positions including secretary. The trustees and AGM was upbeat in his selection and return to the trust as his rich experience and knowledge would benefit the foundation in long way. Biji Jose, a NHS Professional officer for ethnic minorities from Belfast was always in the forefront with helping hand to the migrated people in Northern Ireland. BoneyChandy, an IT professional from Laughborogh was entrusted with treasurer post in the previous term as well and the trustees endorsed his service by appointing him again in the same post.
The AGM later discussed many points including authorisation of local support to Belfast based charity as a part of BMCF policy to support the local community in UK.
The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by the treasurer BoneyChandy.
