BMCF collects over £ 40 Ks in in few weeks from various appeals. Family gets £ 3 Ks from ‘Benoy Augstine appeal’, £ 5 Ks in ‘Athena Gino,’ Over £ 13 K in ‘Nirmala Netto’, £ 11.5 Ks in ‘Jancy’ & over £ 9 Ks in ‘Ajith Appeals. Trustees and office bearers sends thanks to Stockport/Bury Malayali Associations and the UK Malayali community
BMCF trustees had a few busy weeks in receiving applications and conducting enquiries for issuing appeals. As the migration to UK increases over the period of times, number of Malayali families also raises subsequently and as an impact of the same, the amount of applications being received by the foundation has risen considerably due to the sudden deaths and unexpected illness .Late Benoy Augustin (49) from Belfast suddenly passed away in the morning of 7th November 2024 and his family received an amount of £ 3,000.00 from the charity for funeral expenses as a result of the ‘Benoy Appeal’ run as per the application received from his family.While an amount of £2,420.00received through the Kindlink platform, £ 371.00 received from HMRC as giftaid and people directly donated £ 135.00 to charity’s bank a/c. When Kindlink deducted their fee of £ 73.00, the trustees added £ 73.00 from general fund to round off the total figure to £ 3,000.00
In the meantime, charity had received another application from the family of little girl Late Atheena Gino, who passed away at Spalding in Lincolnshire, England for the repatriation expenses to India. ‘Atheena Appeal collected £ 3,670.00 from Kindlink alongwith £ 649.00 of gift aid. Bank a/c receipt was £ 562.00 and kindlink deducted their fee of £ 110.00 and added another £ 229.00 to make the round of £ 5,000.00 to the family.
Late Nirmala Netto, a nurse from Stockport, Manchester passed away due to the cancer disease and her mother Marykutty Netto approached charity with application for financial assistance to repatriate the remains to their home town at Thankasserry, Kollam Kerala. The foundation issued ‘Nirmala Netto’ appeal subsequently with the co-operation of Stockport Malayali Association and and amount of £ 13,320.00 raised accordingly. The Kindlink platform collected £ 11,280.00 and gift aid of £ 1,805.00 received from the government.Charity’s bank account received an amount of £ 685.00 and kindlink deducted their fee of £ 450.00. An amount of £ 3,500.00 directly given to the funeral directors by the charity and the rest of the fund transferred to Late Nirmala’s sister i.e. Olivia Netto’s a/c in England, UK.
47 years old Jancy’s application was also received by the foundation from Leicester, England seeking for financial assistance for her further treatment. Jancy went bedridden after a surgery conducted due to the frozen shoulder. Jancy was working as healthcare worker and she was looking after her 17 years old son. Both were living their own and the social services were involved to look after Jancy due to her deteriorated medical condition. The Jancy Appeal was issued after informing the social services and all the proceeds collected will be transferring to Jancy’s bank a/c. A total amount of £ 11,500.00 collected from the appeal by adding £229.00 from general fund.The kindlink platform raised £ 8,341.00 and gift aid amount of £ 1,466.00 added to the same. An amount of £ 2,015.00 received in charity’s bank a/c.
36 year’s old Ajith Dwarakanath from Bury, England was hospitalised due to the stroke suffered on 21 Nov 2024 and an application was sent by his wife Sreeja to the foundation requesting for financial assistance. The Bury Malayali Association was also behind BMCF to support and an overwhelming amount of £ 9,200.00 collected to give to the family. Ajith is the sole breadwinner in the family and the family had no other alternative but to approach the foundation to pay the rent and all. When an amount of £ 7,789.00 received through the kindlink, gift aid of £ 1,205.00 was added subsequently and also received £ 490.00 directly into the bank a/c. The kindlink platform deducted their fee of £ 310.00 and the trustees added £ 28.00 from charity’s general fund to make the round figure to £ 9,200.00
BMCF Chairman, Mr. Sabu Sebastian Chundkattil, Secretary Biji Jose and Treasurer Boney Chandy expressed their special thanks to the UK Malayali community for their continuous support to various appeals.
