The Malayalee community in Boston is heartbroken as they bid farewell to one of their own, Libin, who came to the United Kingdom on a student visa three years ago. A cherished friend and an active member of the Boston Social Club, Libin was fondly known as ‘Munna’ among his close friends. His untimely demise, after battling severe headaches and serious health complications, has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew him.

His friends, devastated by the tragic loss, came together to honour his memory and ensure that his family could see him one last time. The British Malayali Charity Foundation’s Libin Appeal, launched to repatriate his body to India and provide financial support to his grieving family, saw an overwhelming response from the community.

At the conclusion of the nearly week-long appeal last night, a total of £10,700 was raised. Kindlink received £8,743, including £1,840 from gift aid and £365 directly into the bank. A Kindlink fee of £306 was deducted, and an additional £58 was contributed from the general fund to reach the total amount. Notably, the Boston Social Club and the Royal Boston Cricket Club also stepped forward with a generous support.

Libin was not just a friend but a pillar of the Boston Malayalee community. An enthusiastic participant in all activities of the Boston Social Club, he was a source of joy and support to many. His absence has left the community grappling with deep sorrow, and his friends are struggling to come to terms with the loss. The collective effort to bring his body home reflects the deep bond they shared with him and the love they continue to hold in their hearts.

A statement from the Boston Social Club expressed profound gratitude: “We would like to thank the British Malayali Charity Foundation for taking this noble cause forward and ensuring that Libin’s family receives the maximum financial support. At this moment, our only wish is to provide his loved ones with the opportunity to say their final goodbyes to the one who was their hope and pride.”

The outpouring of love and generosity from the Boston Malayalee community and beyond stands as a testament to the impact Libin had on everyone he met. His memory will forever be cherished, and his presence will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, dear Munna.
