Leicester is set to witness an outpouring of love and compassion as the globally celebrated magician and humanitarian, Gopinath Muthukad, returns not with tricks, but with a heart full of dreams – dreams for children society often forgets.

To many, they are children who need pity. But to Gopinath Muthukad, they are his own — the sons and daughters he never fathered yet loves with every fibre of his being. These children, who have long sought a place of safety, support, and dignity, have found their guardian angel in a man who once wowed the world with illusions, and now dedicates his life to a greater cause — giving hope to children with disabilities.

A new chapter in compassion is being written in Kasaragod, Kerala, where an International Institute for Children with Disabilities is being built — a heaven envisioned by Muthukad to provide international standard care, education, and expression to differently-abled children. The foundation stone was laid six months ago by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and now, as the dream inches closer to reality, the need for support is greater than ever.

Muthukad, who had once set aside his magician’s hat, is now returning to the stage – not for fame or fortune, but for the future of hundreds of children. Realising the scale of the project — expected to be fully operational by 2029 — he has reached out to his most trusted supporters: the Malayali diaspora in the UK, who had once welcomed him with overwhelming warmth and generosity.

His return is not just symbolic — it’s a call to action.

On October 19, the British Malayali Charity Foundation (BMCF) and the UK DAC Chapter are joining hands to organise a landmark event in Leicester titled “Walk with Muthukad – Change Life through BMCF”. A three-mile charity walk through the scenic Beacon Hill Park will mark the morning, followed by an extraordinary evening of magic, music, and motivation at Prajapati Hall, through a show aptly named M Cube.

This is more than a fundraiser. It’s a movement.

Each participant, whether walking solo, with family, or as part of a group, pledges to raise a minimum of £100 — a small price for a big change. The first 100 registered participants will be part of this intimate yet powerful event, where unity and purpose will take centre stage. All participants will receive certificates, while those who raise the most funds will be honoured with trophies and complimentary passes to the evening event.

The effort is being led by passionate volunteers — with Boney Chandy as the General Convener of the charity walk, and George Edathua overseeing the coordination of the M Cube show. Together, with the trustees and advisory board members of BMCF — the largest and most impactful Malayali charitable organisation in the UK — they are determined to create a ripple effect that reaches all the way to the hearts of children in Kasaragod.

Joining Muthukad on this heartfelt tour are a team of talented artists and supporters, including singers Athul Krishna Puthankalathil and Swetha Puthoor Parambath, violinist Vishnu Puthoor Parambath, and technical experts Bharatha Rajan Edayadathodi and Abdulnazer Thottungal Abu. Together, they promise an evening that touches not just the eyes, but the soul.

The British Malayali Charity Foundation, with over £1.5 million raised over the past 13 years, stands as a testament to what love, unity, and purpose can achieve. And now, with Muthukad’s vision shining bright, they are ready to script a new legacy — one that brings dignity and opportunity to those too often left in the shadows.

On October 19, Leicester will not just be a city on the map. It will be a beacon of humanity, a witness to what can happen when a community walks not just with their feet, but with their hearts.
