Charity crosses the milestone of £ 200000.00 (In Rs. 2 Crores); 58 individuals/7 institutions benefits; the great story of UK Malayalis’ compassion and empathy continues…
It is an important landmark in the history of UK Malayalis’ social commitment and dedication through our charity by giving away an amount of over £ 200000.00 in order to wipe out the tears of many suffered from hardships and miseries of life. The supporters and the team members of the charity can be proud of themselves since this has been achieved without incurring much expenses rather than spending a tiny amount for audit/bank charges… Unlike other charities registered in U.K, it is seldom to find charities such as BMCF operating very transparently with nominal expenses and publishing all the details of transactions/bank statements both in ‘British Malayali’ news portal and website.
Right from the inception in 2012, the charity has been able to help 58 families to fight against their loved ones’ life threatening diseases/emergency situations along with 7 institutions/groups for the common causes through 24 appeals. Its journey began with the assistance of £ 9237.00 to Ms. Ashby, a student nurse in September 2012 for the treatment of her kidneys… While a total amount of £ 198524.55 were collected from U.K donors, an amount equal to £ 3000.00( Rs. 3 lacs) was given by a U.K philanthropist and businessman in India thereby a grand total amount of £ 201524.55 were distributed by the charity so far..A total amount of £ 204461.46 has been collected by the charity during this period including the money generated through virgin money and an amount of £ 5936.97 has been set aside in general fund to meet the resources for emergency funds, if any. It is pertinent to note that merely £ 1364.00 was spent all these years for running the charity, that also for bank/audit/website fees.
The charity, headed and run by the Chairman Francis Antony & Secretary Sabu Chundakattil has 13 trustees altogether and mode of operation is very simple and transparent. Each and every applications received are gone through stringent verification by the trustees before short listing and thorough investigations/enquires via local predominant personalities such as Panchayat Presidents/Local Priests etc. Regular follow-ups are carried out even after the disbursement of funds to the eligible beneficiaries to ensure that the funds are used properly for the reasons applied/sought
