‘Christmas Appeal’ hand overs at Kollam on 6th February.
The much awaited ‘Christmas appeal’ funds were handed over at Kollam yesterday by respected M.L.A . ex-minister and a well-known politician Shri. Ganesh Kumar. All the 15 beneficiaries or their representatives were prsennt in the function held at Gandhibhavan and all the expenses related to this event were borne by ‘British Malyali’ without incurring any charges to charity.
Shri. Ganesh Kumar, the M.L.A from Pathanapuram appreciated the efforts being done by ‘British Malayali; & ‘Marunadan Malayali’ in helping the poor unlike other online medias. He came to know much about these news portals during his visit to London for Olympics 2012 and was much impressed by the services rendered to its readers including the whole malayali community in U.K.
‘Christmas Appeal’ fund of £ 28789.56 was the single largest amount collected so far from the charity appeals and were able to assist 15 people including chldren. As the funds were divided and distributed in groups depends upon the urgency and financial situation of the afffected persons, 16 year old Tania Binoy from Puthuppaly, Kottayam received an amount of £ 3000.00 as she was badly in need of funds towards here bone-marrow transplant, which was collected by her father Shri. Binoy. A kidney patient and 15 year old boy, Atul Ramanan from Trichur got the same amount and his father Shri. Ramanan accepted the cheque on behalf of his son. Shri. Deepak from Varkala also received £ 3000.00 further medical interventions for his lukamia affected son i.e. Jeevan Deepak.
Chrones Ulcer sufferer and 16 year old Tina Johnson from Aluva benefitted an amount of £2100.00 and her mother Jancy was there in the function to receive the same. A whole village was behind chronic lever disease sufferer Shri Ajimon from Muvattupuzha and panchayat vice president Smt. Lisy Sabu was amongst the invitees to receive the allocated fund for him. Shri. Vaisakh from Kanjirappally reached Kollam to receive the same amount for his father Shri. Ramachandran, who is a cancer patient. While Smt. Bindu Baby, a brain tumor patient from Mattannur arrived herself, Shri. Anil accepted the amont on behalf of her mother Mariammma from Ayarkkunnam. Smt. Ushakumari i.e. the wife of Shri. Ravindran from Vazhoor, Kottayam, a victim of life-threatening disease lung cancer, was also present in the event.
Shri. Jose was awarded an amount of £ 1150 as a single benfeciary from group C for his wife Smt. Oamana Jose from Palai towards her treatment for backbone disease.
While in group D, all the persons received an amount equal to £ 1050.00 each. A 6 year old boy i.e. Inoch Manu accepted the fund through his famther Shri. Manu and Smt. Jancy from Kottayam received the respective aid for Shri. K.T Thomas. Smt. Jessy baby from Wynadu received the fund through her husband Shri Baby. Smt. Jalaja Ravi, and Shri Naiby Thomas, both from Changanacherry also received the funds during the function.
Kollam district panchayat president Shri. Jayamohan chaired the meeting and Gandhi Bhavan chairman Shri. Punalur Somaraj welcomed the audience. ‘British Malayli’ managing editor, Shri Shajan Scaria said vote of thanks and many renowned personalities from social/media backgrounds were also present.
